Album Of The Day: Blessed Be Your Name by Matt Redman

Released 20 years ago this past July, this is the second live album from Matt Redman and serves as a bit of a "best-of" collection, as it features new live recordings of some of his best songs in the first decade of his career. This includes live versions recorded in 2004 of "The Heart Of Worship", "Better Is One Day", "Blessed Be Your Name" and "Let Everything That Has Breath" plus 8 more songs. Recorded at the same worship conference as his previous album, Facedown, which featured mostly new songs written by Matt Redman, this is all the artist's well-known songs and these versions are good. There's definitely lots of energy to these recordings, though the audience isn't really recorded as well as I think they should be on a live album. After 6 previous studio albums, it's fun to hear live versions, though Matt Redman had appeared in live recordings on many Soul Survivor and Passion albums during that era. It's not too surprising that most of Matt Redman's albums are recorded with that live energy in the past 20 years since this recording.
